OUR 2015 HONORARY CHAIR
Wade Wilson’s career path reflects a successful record of curatorial, critical and commercial success in the visual and performing arts, as well as an academic and teaching record in institutions of higher learning, coupled with a solid background in management, promotions and public relations. For more than 35 years, Wilson has continued in his professional and personal commitment to the visual arts and arts education through his interaction with both the for-profit and non-profit art community. Wilson has chaired, hosted, and/or organized more than 60 galas, fundraisers and benefits and raised and/or helped raise more than $12,000,000 for the arts, education and community organizations in Houston and Santa Fe as well as other towns and cities. Most recently, Wilson secured a $2,300,000 bequest for the University of New Mexico Art Museum from the American photographer Barbara Van Cleve. The gift will increase the university museum’s already substantial list of works in the collection by 1/3 and brings the number to approximately 63,000 works of art. Wilson also established the Barbara Van Cleve Endowment for Women and the Study of Photography at the University of New Mexico.
As an art critic, Wilson has published more than 300 reviews and critical essays on art in a variety of national and international publications including Flash Art, Art Space, Art Gallery International. ArtScene, Artweek, Dallas Home & Garden, Glass Quarterly, American Ceramics, Sculpture, The Fort Worth Star-Telegram, The magazine, etc. As a gallerist and art space director, Wilson has curated and/or co-curated more than 250 art exhibitions since 1987. Wilson founded Wade Wilson Art in 2006 in Houston, Texas. He then opened Wade Wilson Art in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 2012. Wilson’s book on the life and work of photographer Barbara Van Cleve goes to press in fall, 2015.

Wilson earned his B.A. in Environmental Design from the School of Architecture at the University of New Mexico where he also minored in Art History in 1983. He then completed his M.A. in English at TCU in 1986 and later went on to pursue his doctoral studies where his field of emphasis was an Interdisciplinary Study of Post-Modernism in Art, Architecture and Literature and where he remains Ph.D—ABD.
